Independence Day

I took this photo on the 100th anniversary of WWII's end and the subsequent rise of independent European nations. The bustling crowd outside the window marked a nationalist march, just as I had foreseen - an impressive sight on this centenary.

A month before Independence Day, I began photography studies in Czech Republic. Conversations with fellow Polish students revealed their plans for the event, leaving me without one.

The idea of immersing myself in the crowd was daunting, so inspired by Jeff Wall's staged photography, I chose to orchestrate this shot. Placing myself strategically, I sought to capture the contrast between the cozy hotel room and the scene outside.

My photographic intent was simple: fuse the comfort indoors with the dynamic outdoors in a compelling visual interplay.
